Singapore Live! Promotion at Sweden 2001

Great I had a chance involved in "Singapore Live!" Promotion at Kungstradgarder, Stockholm, Sweden, in August 2001, for a 4 days event.Every time doing oversea event was quite busy while we are working, but I managed to took some photo.With our Chinese Opera performers.

Trip to United Kingdom

Just tidy up my cabinet and found this photos, which the time I traveled to United Kingdom for Chinese calligraphy demonstration in year 1987.Start from left: David Lee, Nirmala Devi (fortune teller), me, Jing Yik Kee, Sok Wan Yeo and Emile Thai.

As you seen the two children (my students) in the photo, both of them are married and staying in U.K.

Large Size Calligraphy

Large Size Calligraphy demonstration is one of the item that using by event company for opening ceremony, product launch and etc.

To write a large size calligraphy, the calligrapher must having certain years experience, there are no mistake to be made during the demo session. Doing large size calligraphy seems like an easy job but it actually required lots of related skills.

Wood Carving . 木雕

木雕匾牌的制做，是一门较为传统及算是古老的行业之一，据我所知，在新加坡从事木雕匾牌的制做的人亦不多。

（由本地已故大师潘寿先生题字，而很荣幸由我“抓刀”的一块匾牌）
我除了喜欢制作木雕匾牌之外，亦喜欢透过木雕表现书法与雕刻所结合出来的美感。
不同的木质，例如其硬度，纹路或原木段的形状等等，都可以启发我不同的灵感而进行各种创作的构思。

在这幅作品中，我尝试以浮雕的手法表现这幅书法的劲道，再把背景雕成树皮状来称托这种劲道，再以这种立体感来散发其中的震撼力量。(多年前的我).（翰林）

书法的面貌, 有行书, 草书, 隶书, 大篆, 小篆, 魏碑等等, 一般上学生在练习书法时都写在纸上, 而作为书法爱好者, 我们亦常把书法写在布上, 宣纸上.我个人喜欢作多种尝试, 故除了把书法写在上述书写媒体外, 我亦喜欢写在木板或木制品上. 把书法写在陶瓷上, 结合釉色和图案说呈现出来的效果, 亦是我喜爱的创作方式之一.
带入釉上釉下的特色是我进行创作的方法之一,这种方法可以产生双重的效果,方法是,在入窑前把字写好, 颜色固定后,再加上另一层釉彩.

Trip to Germany

It was great I had a change involved in Expo Hannover 2000's event in Germany in year 2000. I was arranged by the event organizer doing Chinese Calligraphy and workshop for the public during this event.
It was a great and unforgettable experiences in my memory.

Large Size Calligraphy

Large size calligraphy is one of my favorite calligraphy works.That was great I had a change to do for an event in 2001 at Singapore Tourism Board for Chinese Mid Autumn Celebration event. I had wrote this Chinese character "秋" (means autumn) in calligraphy on 8feet x 8 feet cloth.

To produce a wood carving, which usually the client will get the related calligrapher write the calligraphy on the paper, and then we will paste this artwork on the selected wood to be carve.As a professional Calligraphy Wood Carving Artist, he must having a professional skill in calligraphy as well, hence he might know what kind of carving skill to be use for the particular Calligraphy Wood Carving which based on the artwork from client’s calligrapher.Basically, we also provide such calligraphy writing for client before proceed to the carving stage.（翰林）

One of the art creation and services that we do was wood carving. Wood carving for company’s signboard is one of the popular demands in our industry.To me, and to us, wood carving is a high class art; it doesn’t limited just for carving the names of the companies, it could be done for many other compositions, depend on your imagination and creativity.（翰林）

That was great that our gallery was located at Chinatown, and it happened that we are located in between the two great tourism points, which the Indian temple --Sri Mariamman Temple was near our left hand side.And this big Chinese temple was nearby our right side.A bird view of Chinatown.

That was great to completed a show last week in National Museum Singapore for a private. I was doing Chinese Calligraphy on Chinese fan.Chinese Calligraphy on Chinese fan is one of the popular demand for various event including Chinese New Year events, cultural theme event, "Shanghai Night" theme dinner and dance and so ford. Other than that, it also a very special gift for those event that having lots foreigner guests.
